Where we land:
Most often our scenic flights land passengers at 5600 foot level of the Ruth Glacier located in the renowned Sheldon Amphitheater. Other popular landing spots are the Kahiltna, the Pika, and the Eldridge Glaciers. The Alaska Range is huge and offers many breath taking opportunities for safe landing locations.
When we land:
Each day is different in the mountain range. K2 Pilots are experienced in evaluating glacier and weather conditions. Landing on the glaciers in the Park is a highlight for guests and staff alike, however, there are times pilots will choose not to land. If the weather is not stable, the winds are high, the visibility is limited, or snow conditions poor, pilots will err on the side of safety. Our goal is to make certain you have an enjoyable and safe experience.
Glacier Landing Particulars:
Entrance Fees: As our landings enter the glaciated portion of Denali National Park & Preserve, the National Park Service requires a National Park Pass. The cost is $10 per person. These fees are waived if you have traveled or will be traveling into the Park (such as a bus ride) within 7 days of your flight. Our staff will be glad to help you purchase your park pass here in our office.
America the Beautiful Pass:
If you have an American the Beautiful-National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass. YEA!… no park entrance charge.

K2 Aviation Pioneers of Better Ways to Conduct Glacier Landings:
In 1996, K2 Aviation introduced the first De Havilland, Beaver to commercial ski operations on the glaciers in Denali National Park. These planes were bigger and meant K2 was making a smaller footprint in the Park by flying better, safer and more efficiently. In 2004, K2 Aviation negotiated with the National Park Service to allow operation of the De Havilland, Otter, in the Park. The airplane dramatically changed mountain operations forever allowing for extended glacier landing seasons and much more efficient glacier operations.
